Blake Kuwahara Janeway Brown
Sculptural Geometric Fusion in a Monochromatic Brown Palette
The Janeway Brown is designed for those who seek a frame that is both artful and wearable. In this colorway, the inner brown core provides a strong, defined shape, while the translucent outer shell adds a layer of depth and softness. The result is a luminous effect that changes with the light, highlighting the frame's complex internal geometry.
Technical Craftsmanship & Materials
Dual-Layer Lamination: The inner "skeletal" frame and outer crystal shell are milled separately and bonded through a proprietary high-pressure lamination process. This is followed by a six-month curing period to ensure a permanent, seamless bond.
Premium Japanese Acetate: Handcrafted from high-crystalline Japanese acetate, which is prized for its superior transparency and ability to hold deep, saturated pigments like the Janeway's rich brown tones.
45-Degree Mitered End Pieces: Temples and end pieces are cut at a precise 45-degree angle, a technique borrowed from high-end furniture design. This "hidden-joint" joinery allows the brown pattern to flow uninterrupted from the face into the arms.
German-Engineered OBE Hinges: Equipped with custom multi-barrel hinges secured with nylon-coated stainless steel screws to maintain long-term tension and prevent loosening.
Fit & Ergonomics
Integrated High-Pad Bridge: Features 11mm integrated acetate pads—significantly higher than the 7mm industry standard. This provides better lift and stability, making it a "universal fit" for a wider range of bridge profiles.
Weighted Ballast Temple Tips: An additional layer of acetate is fused into the temple tips to act as a functional counterweight, shifting the center of gravity back toward the ears to prevent the frame from sliding down the nose.
Hand-Finished Luster: Every Janeway frame is hand-sculpted and tumbled with wood chips and pumice stones in Japan, resulting in edges that are tactilely soft and glass-smooth.
Technical Dimensions
Lens Width (Eye Size): 53mm
Bridge Width: 19mm
Temple Length: 145mm
Manufacturing: Handcrafted in Japan
Expert Note
Expert Note: The Janeway is an ideal choice for Progressive Lenses. Its 53mm lens width and ample vertical depth provide a generous "corridor" for multifocal prescriptions. The Brown colorway is particularly effective for those who want a statement frame that still feels organic and complements a wide range of warm skin tones and hair colors.
