Blake Kuwahara Fehn Brown Horn
Panto-Inspired Architecture with a Modern "Halo" Effect
The Fehn is designed for those who appreciate the intellectual charm of round frames but want a more assertive, sculptural presence. In the Brown Horn colorway, the frame utilizes a rich, multi-tonal acetate that mimics the organic striations of natural horn. This inner core is layered with a crystal-clear or translucent outer shell, creating a prismatic depth that changes as it catches the light.
Technical Craftsmanship & Materials
Signature Dual-Layer Lamination: The inner Brown Horn silhouette and outer frame are milled as separate units. They undergo an intensive eight-month production process in Japan, including two months of high-pressure lamination and six months of curing to ensure a permanent, seamless bond.
Hand-Assembled Japanese Acetate: Crafted from premium cellulose acetate, the Brown Horn pattern features warm amber, honey, and dark chocolate tones. The material is polished to a glass-like finish to highlight the "frame-within-a-frame" architecture.
45-Degree Mitered Joinery: Borrowing from fine furniture making, the temples meet the front at a precise 45-degree angle. This "hidden-joint" technique creates a continuous visual flow of the horn pattern from the face into the arms.
Custom German OBE Hinges: Equipped with high-performance OBE multi-barrel hinges. These utilize nylon-coated stainless steel screws to maintain long-term tension and prevent the temples from loosening over time.
Fit & Ergonomics
Built-Up Keyhole Bridge: Features a 25mm keyhole bridge with integrated 11mm nose pads (significantly higher than the industry standard). This provides superior "lift" and a secure fit for a variety of bridge profiles, preventing the frame from sliding.
Weighted Ballast Temple Tips: The temple tips are reinforced with extra acetate to act as a functional counterweight. This shifts the center of gravity back toward the ears, ensuring the thick-rimmed front remains perfectly balanced on the face.
Whimsical Temple Design: The temples are finished with uniquely shaped, sculpted tips that serve as both a brand signature and a tactile point of comfort behind the ear.
Technical Dimensions
Model: Fehn (Color: Brown Horn)
Lens Width: 46mm
Bridge Width: 25mm
Temple Length: 145mm
Shape: Oversized Panto / Round
Manufacturing: Handcrafted in Japan
Expert Note
Expert Note: The Fehn is a "Goldilocks" frame for high-minus prescriptions. While the outer frame provides a bold, oversized look, the inner 46mm lens caliber is relatively small and circular. This allows opticians to use thinner lenses and significantly reduces edge thickness, making it an ideal technical choice for complex optical needs without sacrificing style.
