Blake Kuwahara Albers Brown Horn
Structural Symmetry and Architectural Depth
The Albers is a modern, edgy rectangle that serves as a cornerstone of the collection. It utilizes Kuwahara’s signature "frame-within-a-frame" construction to create a striking "internal shadow" effect. In the Brown Horn finish, the frame mimics the rich, multi-tonal striations of natural horn while maintaining the durability and adjustability of premium Japanese acetate.
Material & Construction Features
Dual-Layer "Horn" Acetate: The outer frame features a translucent crystal layer that encapsulates an inner "horn" patterned silhouette. This layering creates a sense of depth and suspended geometry.
Hand-Milled Sculpting: Each Albers frame is individually milled in Japan. The bridge and end-pieces are sculpted to create a seamless transition between the inner and outer shapes, requiring tolerances of less than 0.1mm.
German OBE Hardware: Outfitted with custom-made OBE hinges, specifically chosen for their high-torque resistance, ensuring the temples remain tight and aligned even with frequent wear.
45-Degree Mitered End-Pieces: A complex joinery technique where the frame front and temples meet at a perfect 45-degree angle. This conceals the raw edge of the acetate and creates a continuous flow of the "Brown Horn" pattern.
Fit & Ergonomics
Universal High-Pad Bridge: Features 11mm integrated nose pads (4mm taller than the industry standard). This provides a superior lift for a wider range of bridge profiles and prevents the frame from resting on the cheeks.
Contoured Temples: The temples are tapered and hand-polished to provide a secure grip behind the mastoid bone, counterbalancing the front-heavy nature of the dual-layer acetate.
Technical Dimensions
Model: Albers (Brown Horn)
Lens Width: 51mm
Bridge Width: 19mm
Temple Length: 145mm
Frame Front: 140mm
Manufacturing: Hand-finished in Japan
Expert Note: The Albers is a "Combo" shape—part aviator, part rectangle. This makes it a highly versatile technical fit for "heart-shaped" or "oval" faces that need angular definition without the bulk of a traditional square frame.
